Bette Lou Hemrick Kiser

Bette Lou Hemrick Kiser, 96, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at her home. Bette was born on January 12, 1928 in Forsyth County to the late Donnie Sanford Hemrick and Bessie Bodenheimer Hemrick. She was employed with Arcade Fashion Shop in downtown Winston-Salem for 25 years and retired from the Forsyth County Tax Department after 23 years of service. Bette was a member of Salem Baptist Church on Broad St. for over 85 years and was a member of The Rebecca Sunday School class. In her free time, Bette enjoyed spending time outdoors in her yard, taking special care to ensure it was maintained and beautiful over the years.  In addition to her parents, Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L. Kiser; grandson, Curtis Allen Craver; son-in-law, Allen W. Craver; and 11 brothers and sisters. Surviving family includes two daughters, Judy Kiser Craver of Lewisville and Luann Kiser Zappia (Frank) of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor Jimmy Barrett officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11am – 12pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
