Betty Jean McKoin Comer “Nanny”, 94, of Colfax, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born to the late Debro McKoin and Vesta Whitaker McKoin on July 8, 1931, in Guilford County.
In her early years, Betty attended and graduated from Colfax School. She went on to spend her career working for Western Electric and Analog Devices.
Betty enjoyed cooking, growing her roses and working out in the yard. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
Betty was a longtime member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. She was a faithful Christian who stayed very dedicated to her church. Betty liked to stay involved by attending all church trips and participating in the church choir.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles T. Comer; beloved son, Michael Comer; two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her caring children, Sherry Comer Clinard (Bill), Ricky Comer (Jennifer), and Jeffrey Comer (Amy); grandchildren, April Campbell (Johnny), Billy Clinard (Angela), Brandon Clinard, Chase Comer (Stephie), Jamie Comer (Megan), Justin Comer, and Calli Comer; nine great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and brother, Terry McKoin (Judy).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating the service is Pastor Phil Kirkman and Pastor Todd Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery Fund in honor of Betty.
