KERNERSVILLE - Betty W. Covington ("Grandma Betty Ann") 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital. Betty was born on December 22, 1930 in Aiken County, SC and was the daughter to Sarah Weathersbee and Wade Tillitson.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl William Covington who she shared 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Kathryn Showalter (Patrick); her son, Carl W. Covington, Jr. (Mary Beth); and three grandchildren, Alexander Covington, Caitlin Showalter and Will Purdum.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved people and shared her loving and kind spirit with family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed cooking and sports and she had a love for birds and animals.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Steve Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family committal service will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Forsyth Humane Society.
