Betty Jewel Scott Hardy

Mrs. Betty Jewel Scott Hardy, 93, passed away, Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1932, in Yadkin County, NC to the late Erlie Scott and Pearl Flynn Scott. Betty was a longtime member of Beck’s Baptist Church. She graduated from Copeland High School, where she was in the Glee Club, Honor Society; and the 3 Girl Singing Group. Betty taught herself how to play the piano. She was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star, Old Town Chapter 355. Betty retired from the accounting department of Sears and Roebuck.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Hardy; brother, Wilson Scott; and nephew, Brian Scott. Betty is survived by her son, Rick Hardy (Jane); granddaughter, Mary Kathryn Washington (Yancey); two great-grandchildren, James Washington and Emma Lou Washington; two brothers, Bill Scott and Wade Scott (Brenda); and three nieces, Anne Scott, Wendy Cruess (Greg), and Carrie Scott.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor David Renegar officiating. Interment will follow at Beck’s Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
