Betty Jean Helms Hamilton

Mrs. Betty Jean Helms Hamilton, 89, passed away on May 24, 2025, at Clemmons Village Assisted Living. She was born on June 17, 1935, in Richmond County to the late Baxter Warden Helms Sr. and Thelma Rosella Frye Helms. Betty was a longtime member of Freedom Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her dogs, Peanut and Roscoe. Most importantly, Betty devoted her life to raising her children, who she always called her babies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Baxter “Dub” Helms, one sister, Jewell Helms, one son, Gregory Lynn Hamilton, and one daughter, Deborah Ann Hamilton. Betty is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, Harold Allen Hamilton, two daughters; Rebekah Jean Farmer (Keith), and Rachel Dawn Hamilton Sari, one son, Hal Baxter Hamilton (Cindy), and four grandchildren; William Jenkins, Samuel Hamilton, Grayson Hamilton, and Tryston Hamilton. A funeral service will be held at 6:00PM Thursday May 29, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Jon White officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Clemmons Village Assisted Living and Medi Hospice of Thomasville for their care of Betty.
