Betty Ruth Holder Hicks

Mrs. Betty Ruth Holder Hicks, 80 , of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Mill Creek Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born on October 25, 1945, to the late Sion “Sam” Holder and Mary Louise Nelson Holder in Lee County, NC.

Throughout her life, Betty grew an enormous love for music. She enjoyed going to live musical shows, where the others in attendance often became like family. Betty never met a stranger, considering everyone to be someone she loved, and this came easy to her as she has such a bubbly and energetic personality. In her free time, Betty would read books and complete crossword puzzles surrounded by her favorite scented candles. She also loved going to yard sales, as long as her health permitted, and was a tremendous cook. Above all, Betty loved her family more than anything.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Gray Holder; and her sister, Mary “Ollie” Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Tiffany R. Hicks; son, Tommy G. Hicks; and two grandsons, Justin G. Hicks and Dakota C. Hicks.

A graveside service will be held for Betty on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park.
