Betty Evans Holmes

KERNERSVILLE-Betty Elizabeth Evans Holmes, entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 6, 2015. She was born April 7, 1943 in Red Hill, Virginia to the late Watt Marsh Evans and Mary Clements Evans. Betty attended Stoco High School in Coal City, WV. She immediately married and did as God said, ""Go forth and multiply"", and that she did. Her six children were the passion of her life and she completely dedicated her life to theirs. Betty also loved gardening, her backyard was like a botanical garden, she loved nature, caring for the outdoor birds, eventually becoming the local Field Guide to Birds of North Carolina, and she was by far the most user friendly guide to all backyard birds. She loved the beauty of nature in all seasons, she felt enriched to live in an area where she could partake in nature right outside her window. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee with a neighbor and best friend, Karen, she loved baking, crossword puzzles, reading, music, and playing cards with her family and finding the best bargain in the weekly newspaper. Throughout her life she relished laughing with family, gatherings with family and vacationing with family when able and family just dropping by for no reason. Betty was adored by all who had the opportunity to share her life. She had a deep appreciation for the individuals who were part of her life in whatever capacity during her long battle with cancer. Her compassion, devotion, sense of humor and grace will be profoundly missed. Betty's devotion to her Christian faith has taught all who knew her, ""It's in God's Hands"", if not, put it there and leave it there, everything else falls into place. Betty was a long time member of First Christian Church of Kernersville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Brent Lane and Brian Keith Fendley. Surviving are her husband, James ""Jim"" Robert Holmes of the home; her son Bennett Fendley (Terryl) of Walkertown; three daughters, Barbara Fendley, Becky Coney (Andrew) of Kernersville, Beverly Glass (Barry) of Kernersville.
