Betty King

Betty Williard King, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 29, 1929 to Hattie Belle Lawrence and Samuel Joseph Williard in Forsyth County and was the youngest of ten. In addition to her parents and nine brothers and sisters, she was also preceded in death by her son, Sam King. Surviving are her loving husband, James A. King; daughter, Kim K. Long (Kim) of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Wendy K. Elder (Michael), Ashley K. Bahor (Ned), Matthew Long, and Joseph Long; two great grandchildren, Samantha Elder and David Elder. Betty was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church where she attended services for as long as her health permitted. She was employed by Dewey's Bakery as an office manager until her retirement. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a generous, strong and loving mother who showed them how to remain kindhearted and appreciate the many blessings life can bring. Her joy of life and desire to experience and see as much of it as possible was evident by the many trips she took with her family as traveling was one of her passions. She loved to work in the yard planting flowers. She gained great pleasure in doing things for her family and spending time at the beach. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
