Betty Manuel McCollum

Mrs. Betty Manuel McCollum, 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Betty was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on March 16, 1924, to the late Grafton ""Steve"" Manuel and Amy Veeck Manuel. She was a faithful member of Calvary Moravian Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed playing bridge with them. Betty had a love for cardinals, not only for their beauty but for their Christian symbolism. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. McCollum. She is survived by her two daughters, Kay Reed of Fletcher, NC and Diane Shoaf and husband, Don of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Amanda Reed of Fletcher, NC, Amy Reed of Las Vegas, NV and Donnie Shoaf and wife, Julie of Mooresville, NC; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rt. Rev. Lane Sapp officiating.
