Betty Jean Myers

Winston-Salem - Mrs. Betty Jean Myers, 85, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Vienna Village. She was born October 9, 1928 in Forsyth County to William Oscar and Allie Gwynn McMillan. Mrs. Myers was a member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Myers, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Herbert G. Myers Sr.; 3 children, Herbert G. Myers Jr. (Donna) of Lewisville, Dianne Matthews (Larry) of East Bend, and Marty Myers (Donna) of East Bend; a daughter-in-law, Ann Foster of Winston-Salem; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Virginia M. Hayes of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 13, 2013, at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Freeman and Pastor Mark Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel from 6-8 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Harmony Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5041 Styers Ferry Road, Lewisville, NC 27023. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Vienna Village, especially Jasmine and Cookie, and to Donna Turpin of Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Myers.
