Betty Preston Overby

WINSTON-SALEM-Mrs. Betty Preston Overby, 81, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 at her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Overby was born on May 11, 1933 in Forsyth County to the late Walter Henley Preston and Francis Stella Osborne Preston. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Walnut Cove as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Overby was preceded in death by her husband, Colon ""Boodie"" Overby and two brothers, B.W. Preston and Marshall Preston. Mrs. Overby is survived by two daughters, Sabrina Overby and fiancé, Kenny Tackett of the home and Teresa K. Frye of Kernersville, NC; two sons, George Richard Wilson, Jr. and wife, Karen of Pfafftown, NC and Gary Preston Wilson and wife, Cecilia of Pinnacle, NC; six grandchildren, Brittany Wilson of Pilot Mountain, NC, Daniel Gage Wilson of Winston-Salem, Stephanie Wilson of Pfafftown, NC, Kristie Kaiser and husband, Bill of Memphis, TN, and Robin and Terry Frye, both of Lexington, NC; four great-grandchildren, Meghan, Jenna and Erin Kaiser and Jade Brewer; one sister, Juanita Bullins of King, NC; one sister-in-law, Martha Preston of Wilmington, NC; a host of nieces and nephews and a special grand dog, Rocky. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Bobby G. Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff on the 8th floor at Forsyth Medical Center for the care they provided to Betty during her illness.
