Betty Rose Holcomb Richardson

Mrs. Betty Rose Holcomb Richardson, 76, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on June 9, 1949, to the late John Robert Holcomb and Helen Elizabeth Smith Holcomb.

Betty was a faithful, longtime member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, where her faith remained strong throughout her life. She deeply loved her family and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Nanny.” She especially enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, trips to the mountains, and vacations with those she loved most. Betty was known for her selfless and caring nature, always willing to help others and devoted to making sure her husband, Charlie, was well cared for.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jason Richardson; her brother, Donny Ray Holcomb; and her sister, Peggy Sue Schweikert.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 59 years, Charles “Charlie” E. Richardson; her son, Alex Richardson (Julie); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Dale Holcomb; and her daughter-in-law, Maryanna Richardson.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, June 1, 2026, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown Gutherie Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
