Mrs. Betty Shouse Martin, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Grayson Creek Assisted Living in Lexington. She was born on March 21, 1933 in Forsyth County to Evan and Sadie Tesh Shouse. Mrs. Martin was a loving wife and mother. She retired from the City of Winston-Salem and was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Bishop Martin, Jr.; two daughters, Paula and Pamela Martin. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia "Pat" Strickland, Rebekah "Becky" Vestal, and Donna Martin; four grandchildren, Marty Stanfield and wife Sarah, Mandi Moser, Zach and Stacey Vestal; four great grandchildren, Abby Ward, Kyleigh Abel, Reagen Stanfield, and Maylon Vestal; one sister Frances Warner; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Gus Thomas and Dr. Cecil Cave officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln. Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
