Betty Lawson Smith

KERNERSVILLE - Betty Lawson Smith, 84, passed away early Sunday morning, September 25, 2016. She was born on September 15, 1932 to Walter and Norma Lawson in Hoke County NC. She moved with her family to Greensboro in her early teens. Betty was married to Harry Smith, Jr. for 67 years and was the mother of three children and grandmother to four grandchildren. She spent most of her life being a wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Walter Ray Smith; and brothers, Thomas, Bobby Ray and Phillip Lawson.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Harry Smith, Jr; her daughters, Kay Hubbard and Ranea Smith; daughter-in-law, Kim Smith; grandchildren, Christopher Hubbard (Lindsey), Ricky Smith, Holly Smith Daniels (Brandon) and Lindsey Smith; a great grandchild, Annabelle Daniels; two brothers, Joel Wayne Lawson (Gail) and Charles Farrell Lawson (Margaret); two sisters, Elizabeth ""Lib"" Cheek and LuAnne Serpas (Greg); and her beloved pet, Anna.

A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Colfax Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Wolverton officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
