Betty Simpson Stafford

Mrs. Betty Simpson Stafford, 81, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at her home. She was born December 25, 1929 in Forsyth County to Ralph G. and Elizabeth Anderson Simpson. Mrs. Stafford was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville and was a former member of Southside Baptist Church. She enjoyed her church family and helping in the kitchen. She also loved her garden and flowers. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Ray N. Stafford; and a daughter, Jean F. Stafford. Surviving are two daughters, Sherrill G. Hackler and husband Ken of Kernersville and Donna S. Locke and husband Rev. Ed Locke of Winston-Salem; one son, Michael Stafford and wife Gail of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren, Jonathan Stafford and Tiffany Hackler; one sister, Jean F. Beard of Oak Island; one brother, Ralph G. Simpson, Jr. of Greensboro; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 18 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with the Rev. Eddie Honeycutt, the Rev. Max Furr and the Rev. Terry Rausch, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 17 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
