KERNERSVILLE -- Mrs. Betty Stout Walker, 84, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at her home. Betty was born on April 21, 1929 in Mountain City TN to Grady John and Queen Wolfe Stout. Betty was the first Kindergarten Teacher in Johnson County TN and after moving to Kernersville continued her teaching career as a 3rd grade teacher at Main Street Baptist. Betty was a member of Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, John Stout.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, George B. Walker; son, Dr. Kirk Walker (wife, Sandy); daughter, Cindy Mikesell; four grandchildren, Eric Mikesell (wife Lindsay), Matthew Walker (wife, Heather), Ian Walker and Scott Walker; and one great granddaughter, Alison Paige Mikesell.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Rick Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family extends a special thanks to Betty's caregivers, Bonnie McMahan and Michelle Green, for their loving care during Betty's illness.
