Betty Todd Wright

Betty Todd Wright, age 89, peacefully entered the presence of her Savior on August 3, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable five-generation legacy of love and faith.

Betty’s life was defined by her deep devotion to her family and an unwavering faith. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she anchored her family with grace and unconditional love. Her home was a sanctuary of open doors, full hearts, and shared memories.

She possessed a rare gift for storytelling, weaving warmth and wisdom into every narrative she shared. Her words had the power to comfort, inspire, and bring laughter to generations of listeners, ensuring her spirit will live on through the stories passed down by those who loved her.

Betty was born on 8/8/1936 in Robeson County, NC to Dougald B. Todd, Sr. and Viola Scott Todd, who preceded her in death.

Betty was a lifelong member of Raft Swamp Baptist Church, Lumberton, NC. She graduated from Lumberton High School and Selena Business College and retired from Lowe’s of Lumberton in 1987.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James B. Sossamon, three brothers, William R. Todd, Dougald B. Todd, and Ertle B. Todd, three sisters, Annie Pate Smith, Audrey T. King, and Geraldine Todd. Betty is survived by her children, Julia M. Bullock (Donnie), Deborah M. Felton (David), Arless E. “Pete” McLean (Donna), Kimberly T. Felton (Tim), Martha Ann Martin (David), and Randall Scott McLean (Brenda); 15 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 3 pm at Hayworth Miller Lewisville Chapel with visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 pm prior. Reverend Sandy Young will be leading the service.
