Mrs. Betty Ashley Marion, 93, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12, 2022.  She was born in Yadkin County on January 6, 1929, to the late Santford and Rosa Hutchens Ashley.  Mrs. Marion was an active member of Friedland Moravian Church where she was involved with the Women’s Fellowship and was also a member of the Kernersville CB Club.  She enjoyed gardening and was artistic.  Mrs. Marion was a vital part in helping her husband successfully operate the Marion Oil Company.  She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Marion; her daughter, Ann Marion Peacock, and several brothers and sisters.  Surviving are two sons, Jack Marion (Linda York Marion) and Ronald “Rocky” Marion (Linda Holder Marion); son-in-law, Richard Peacock; four grandchildren, Jack Marion, Jr., Matthew Marion (Laura), Elizabeth Hunter (Wesley), and Sydney Peacock; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Champion and Megan Poteat; three sisters, Pat Swaim, Era Mae Vestal, and Versie Mendenhall; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. John G. Rights officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:30-12:30 Saturday prior to the graveside at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.  Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Friedland Moravian Church, 2750 Friedland Church Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
