Mrs. Beverly Jean “BJ” Griffin Lawrence, 77, passed away, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Lawrence was born on December 16, 1948, in Indiana to the late Dwayne Wilson Griffin and Esther Beckwith Griffin. BJ was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend.
After graduating high school, BJ attended college and received her master’s degree in nursing. Throughout her 28-year nursing career, working in hospitals throughout the United States, she had many roles, beginning as a bedside nurse and transitioning to a management position. BJ was recognized for the high quality of care she provided her patients. Nursing was BJ’s divine calling, but she also held a special place in her heart for animals and gardening. She was amazing in her flower garden and was known for her “green thumb”. In 1973, she met the love of her life, Jack. They went on to have four children to whom she dedicated her life. BJ enjoyed raising her family on their little farm and experiencing God’s wonderful beauty all around us.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack Lawrence; two daughters, Whitney Lawrence (Steven) and Nicole Lawrence (Allen); two sons; Abraham Lawrence (Tonya) and Jacob Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Halen Boles, Corban Boles Angelina Lawrence, Noah Lawrence, Waylon McHone; Ava Caballero, and Emma Lawrence; one brother, Michael Griffin (Luze); and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her church and other loved ones that were like family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3pm Friday, August 21, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Robert Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Pinnacle Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.
