Billie Jane Perrell Tise

Mrs. Billie Jane Perrell Tise passed away peacefully on January 1, 2017, due to complications from a stroke. Passing away on New Year's Day, she gets the most awesome headstone for generations to come to admire. She was born to Seaton Alexander Perrell and Joanna Redmon Perrell on June 29, 1928, the youngest of 5 girls, with one boy to follow. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was raised on a tobacco farm in Germanton, NC, and moved to Winston-Salem after high school. She was voted prettiest girl in her high school class, the class of 47, Mineral Springs High School. Her first job was with D. G. Craven's Department Store. Mr. Craven used to have her model furs and beautiful clothes for the well-heeled women who shopped at his store. After about a year she went to work for R. J. Reynolds as an Executive Secretary in the Leaf Department, retiring after 35 years. In 1948, she married Banner F. Tise, Jr., after their chance meeting at Carolina Beach, and they spent 55 happy years together until his death in 2003. Her greatest joys in life were her treasured family, her dear friends in North Carolina and across the country, her pets (most recently her beloved Chihuahua Poco), home cooking, and the NC coast, where she loved to spend time in the house she and Banner built on the banks of the Lockwood Folly River. She loved music and our whole family is subject to break into song at any moment. She is predeceased in death by her parents and her sisters Elsie Mendenhall, Irma Moran, Edna Frye, Mary Ruth Binkley and brother Jackie Perrell and their spouses. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Becky) Jane Tise (""Jane"" after her mother) and her husband Bruce R. Davidson of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and her many, many, many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will hold a visitation on Thursday, January 5th, 2017, at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home at 3315 Silas Creek Parkway from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Services will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 9930 Baux Mountain Road, Germanton, NC on Saturday, January 21st, 2017, at 2:00 pm, officiated by Mr. Kel Billings. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, care of Sarah Stephens, 1817 NC 65 West, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
