Mr. Billy Raymond Lankford, Sr., 79, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on November 27, 1936 in Forsyth County to John and Trevia Pegram Lankford. Mr. Lankford began working in Winston-Salem for Container Corporation of America Box Company and retired after 20 years of service. He owned and operated Maple Leaf Golf Club since 1984 where he enjoyed hanging out with his friends and customers and play golf and talking baseball. He was an avid Boston Redsox and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan. He was friendly and kind hearted and always wanted to please his customers. He loved his family and was especially excited about his new great grandson, Joey. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Charles Lankford; family dog, Cotton. He is survived by three sons, Billy Lankford, Jr. and wife Tracie of Kernersville, Keith Thomas Walker and wife Janet of Bedford, TX, Michael W. Charles and wife Kathy of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Amber Lankford, Aaron Walker, Lcpl. Alexander Clay; one great grandson, Joey Childress; one sister, Yvonne Lankford Hughes. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Don Charles, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
