Mr. Billy Gray Nixon, 83, passed away at home Monday morning January 13, 2014. He was born in Forsyth County on November 1, 1930 to the late Brady Austin and Ella Mae Hardy Nixon. Bill served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After he left the service, Bill ran Nixon's Variety Shop, with his father, from 1955-1977, before retiring from U.S. Airlines with 18 years of service in 1995. He was preceded in death by his first wife Jackie Coggins Nixon. Bill is survived by his wife Patsy R. Nixon; three children Ronald Nixon (Robin) of Fort Mill, SC, Elaine Riddle (Roger) of Rural Hall, NC, and Gregory Alan Nixon of Wallburg, NC; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caroline, Maggie, Austin, Kayce, and Nicole; three great-grandchildren Grayson, Jude, and Moira; and a sister Jean ""Monkey"" Nixon of Clemmons, NC. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday January 18, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Wylie Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow the service at Advent Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
