Billy Ray Parrish

Mr. Billy Ray Parrish, 87, of Walnut Cove, NC, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Friday, July 18, 2025. Billy was born in Davie County on October 18, 1937, to the late Robert William Parrish and Elsie Moorefield Parrish. He was employed with Gallins Vending for over 40 years, retiring in 1998. Billy enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a fan of NASCAR and Kyle Larson was his favorite driver. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Parrish. He is survived by his children, Tony Parrish (Diana), Susan Griffin (Bo), and Eric Parrish (Stefanie); grandchildren, Tim Parrish, Jennifer Griffin Dwiggins (Danny), Erica Parrish Moore (Chris), Jessie Perryman, and Chase Handshoe; and six great-grandchildren. Billy is also survived by two sisters, Katherine Hursey (Donald) and Wanda Parrish; and one brother, Roger Parrish (Brenda). A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Mr. Chris Linville officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Parrish.
