Billy Warf

Mr. Billy Russell Warf, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on April 16, 1932 in Wise Co., VA the son of the late Lawrence Lee Warf and Lena Hicks Warf. Billy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed deeply by all who knew him. He was a loyal employee and retired from AT&T with 38 years of service. Billy proudly served in the United States Army from 1952 - 1953 during the Korean War. He served in the 31st Field Artillery Battalion Battery B with the 7th Infantry Division. During the battle of Pork Chop Hill he earned a metal for saving the life of his Lieutenant. Billy continued his service with the VFW and the American Legion Post #290 in King as long as his health permitted. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Jerry Lee Warf. Billy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Weddle Warf; a son, Russell Warf; a daughter, Kristy Warf Macemore (Steve); three grandchildren, Miranda Macemore, Lindley Warf and Kendall Sharpe; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Parker and Kennedy Sharpe; a sister, Estelle Austin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Warf will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Jimmie Moore officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 this evening Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
