Mrs. Blanche Elizabeth Daniel Hunt, 96, of Winston-Salem, was called to her heavenly home by the Lord Jesus on Tuesday April 29, 2025.
She was born on April 19, 1929, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Houston and Mertie Deaton Daniel. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Blanche graduated from Newell High School in 1948 where she met the love of her life, H. Ray Hunt. She then attended Appalachian State Teacher’s college graduating in 1952 with her teaching degree in Home Economics.
After Ray served in the Air Force for two years, they were married on December 5, 1953. Blanche worked as a dietician at Presbyterian Hospital and then she taught home economics and science at Sedgefield Junior High.
She then became a full-time homemaker as she raised her two daughters, Becky and Teresa. Later, she recertified in elementary education and taught Kindergarten for 15 years at Pinewood Elementary. She grew up attending Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte and later moved her membership to Sharon Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.
After retiring from teaching, Blanche was an active member of the Charity League of Charlotte. For years she lovingly designed and put together craft items to sell in the annual fundraiser which supported the Sunshine Day Nursey.
Blanche was preceded in passing by her husband Ray of 59 years, a daughter, Becky Lumadue who passed in 2017, and by her older sister, Mary Lee Daniel who passed in 1926.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Mitchell (Dennis) of Lewisville; son-in-law, Scott Lumadue (Liz) of Mooresville; 4 grandchildren, Kenny Lumadue (Kelsie) of Texas, Patrick Lumadue (Hilary) of Utah, Stephanie Smith (Matt) of Mocksville, and Allison Tucker (Joseph) of Andrews; and 7 great-grandchildren, Ella, Sadie, Titus, Case, Camden, Bekah, and Hudson. She also has numerous cousins on the Daniel side of her family that she loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11:00am at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Pastor Joseph Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the chapel. Interment will follow at a later date at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
The family would like to thank the staff of the NC Veteran’s Administration Home in Kernersville and Pruitt Hospice for their professionalism, courtesy, and tender loving care. Also, to Mary Miller of Sharon Presbyterian Church who faithfully wrote letters to Blanche for 12 years keeping her up to date on church activities.
