Blanche Stone

Mrs. Blanche Zimmerman Stone entered the more immediate presence of her savior on the morning of Monday, January 29, 2018. She passed peacefully with her two sons by her side. She was born in Davidson County, NC on September 18, 1926, to Wylie Ellis and Annie Mock Zimmerman. After graduating from Arcadia High School in 1943, she attended Imperial Secretarial school. She was employed by Duke Power Co. and later by Thalhimers Department Store. She was married to Joe F. Stone Jr., on August 26, 1950, her husband of 56 years. She was a member of Calvary Moravian Church, where she served as a diener for over 50 years, was an active member of the Women's Fellowship and circle leader. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Stone; her parents; and two sisters Mary Ferris and Georgia Zimmerman. Surviving are her two sons, Chris F. Stone and wife Pam and Nick Stone; one sister, Becky Snyder and husband Charles; three grandchildren, Chris F Stone Jr. and wife Julie, Jordan L. Stone and wife Brandi, and Madison Stone; three great grandchildren, Carter, Ella, and Stryson. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, many nieces and nephews in addition to her best friend of 70 years, Becky Fisher, whom she leaned on often during her last year. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with The Right Rev. Lane Sapp officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Salem Moravian Graveyard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Moravian Church, 600 Holly Ave NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 and Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. A special thank you to Mallard Ridge Assisted Living for their love and compassion that they showed our mom during her stay there.
