Bobbie Janette Hyman Burroughs, 93, of Kernersville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on December 14, 1932, in Scranton, South Carolina, to the late Ralph Hyman and Juanita Evans Hyman. She was a graduate of JC Lynch High School. She enrolled in cosmetology school but decided to become a homemaker when she married the love of her life, Ken Burroughs in 1954. When her children were older, she worked at the High Point Adams-Millis until she retired. She loved experiencing new things and seeing new sights as her and Ken traveled across the country in their Bounder RV. She was a longtime member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church in Kernersville where she worked in her older years at the church Childcare, caring for the children of the church. She also enjoyed word search puzzles and shopping. Bobbie will be missed immensely by those who knew and loved her.
As the longest living member of her family, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland “Ken” Burroughs; a son, Mike Burroughs; as well as sisters, Frances Dukes, Ann Wise and Betty Coker.
Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Siler (Steve) of Kernersville; a son, Scott Burroughs (Ruthie) of Thomasville; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Burroughs, of Rural Hall; 6 grandchildren, Kevin Siler (Emilie) and Ashley Marshall (Matt) of Kernersville, Kristin McLeod (Jack) of Greensboro, Julie Kyle of Thomasville, Jamie Collins (Christelle) of Rural Hall, and Chris Collins (Donna) of King; 13 great-grandchildren; a special “grandchild”, Sage Lawson; as well as other extended family members.
The family extends a special thank you to the Memory Support Unit at Westchester Manor in High Point for their loving care.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Mt Gur Cemetery, with Chuck Ireson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, 1510 Bunker Hill Sandy Ridge Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284.
