Bobbie Poplin

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (II Cor. 5:8)

On Monday, April 9, 2018, this became a reality for her, as God called her to the home in Heaven that He had prepared for her. She is now at perfect rest where there is no pain, sorrow or sin. She fought an incredibly courageous battle for many years with several illnesses. She was very small in stature, but very big in her Faith in Christ. Bobbie was born on February 12, 1937 to Selma and Wiley McElrath in Canton, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Poplin with whom she had a wonderful marriage for over 50 years. Also deceased were Her parents and one sister. Leaving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Phyllis Bowman and Husband Kenneth and Debbie Steinberg; one son, Gary Poplin. Bobbie was blessed with 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. She leaves a host of Special Friends who will miss her greatly. Bobbie worked approximately 25 years, at EDC, a manufacturing company, and at a couple of mills for several years, while rearing her children in Church, and caring for the home. Her fondest memory (in her words) was when she ''accepted Christ as Saviour" She served Him by serving the Church, working with children for some 30 years, and singing in the Adult Choir. She was a very knowledgeable Bible scholar, reading and studying the Bible for all of her Christian life. Funeral services honoring a life well lived will be held on Thursday, April 12 at I :00 p.m.at Hanes Baptist Church. 4210 Sabrina Lake Road, Winston-Salem.
