Bobby Ray Bennett, 91, of Pinnacle, North Carolina passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Pinnacle, North Carolina on August 26, 1934, son of the late Millard and Lummie Bennett. Bobby married his high school sweetheart, Tootsie Cole Bennett, and they shared 71 years together. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville and the Stanleyville Civic Club where he was privileged to serve the Stanleyville community. Over the years, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Cherry Grove Beach in South Carolina. He also enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf, gardening, and riding his lawn mower and tractor. Bobby retired from R. J. Reynolds with 31 years of service. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Melinda Gentry (Jeff), and son, Brent Bennett. Bobby loved his two granddaughters, Caroline Rowell (Logan) and Emily Gentry McAlpine (Neil) and his great-grandsons, Alby and Ansen Rowell. He is survived by one brother, Don Bennett, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Bennett and Betty Lane, and a brother, Joe Bennett.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 21, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. Interment will follow at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church in Pinnacle, NC. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem, 210 S. Cherry Street, Suite 206, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. The family would like to thank the staff at Priddy Manor for the excellent care he received over the past year.
