Mr. Bobby J. Burton passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center.  He was a native of Advance but spent the majority of his life in Winston-Salem.  He was born March 30, 1932 to Annie B. and Frank Burton.  Mr. Burton was a member of Ardmore Moravian Church where he served on various committees and boards.  He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and graduated from Wake Forest University in 1962.  He was retired from AT&T Corporation and worked for Modern Machine.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan L. Burton, his only son, Michael J. Burton and brothers, Frank Burton, Herb Burton and Ronnie Burton.  He is survived by his granddaughter, Kaitlin L. Burton; great grandson, Brayden; sisters, Margie Cozart, Patsy Crenshaw (Charles) and Betsy Will (Woody); brothers, Bill Burton (Kay) and Ken Burton (Brenda); sisters-in-law, Zelda Burton and Janet Burton; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Burton; and a host of nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held Monday, February 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Chaz Snider and Rev. Bob Peterson officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northwest Food Bank, 3655 Reed Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Sunnyside Ministry, 314 Haled Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
