Bobby Doby

Mr. Bobby Lee Doby,68, journeyed to heaven to be with his wife on August 10, 2018 at 11:50 AM at Wake Forest Comprehensive Cancer Center. He passed as a result of respiratory failure brought on by his long battle with cancer. He was born in Forsyth County on December 22, 1949 to Paul J. Doby, Sr. and Helen Lowe Doby. Mr. Doby proudly served his country during the Vietnam conflict as a soldier of the US Army. He was described as a charismatic, funny and a delightful soul who brought joy to all who knew him. He was a loving husband who defined unconditional love through his dedication to his wife during her battle with cancer; staying by her side while fighting his own battle and providing total care for his 93 year old mother. He was always attentive, loving and very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was affectionately referred to as "Bobbaw" and "Pawpaw" and has all five grandkids wrapped around his little finger. He often said that his greatest achievement was his loving family and the blessings that they brought to him. He was preceded in death by his father; and his beautiful wife, Gail. Surviving family includes his mother, Helen Doby of Winston-Salem; daughter, Leigh Mueller and husband Nathan of Kernersville; son, Matthew Doby and wife Amber of Lewisville; and five grandchildren, Dalton Oliver, Kaley Mueller, Dylan Doby, Petey Doby, and Kamryn Mueller; one brother, Paul J. Doby Jr. and wife Donna; a multitude of "adopted" grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ with Mr. Paul Doby and Pastor Brian Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 4:00 PM at the church prior to the service and also following the service at Leigh and Nathan's home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN , 38105. Online condolences made at www.hayworth-miller.com
