Bobby Gene Mabe

Mr. Bobby Gene Mabe passed away at Forsyth Medical Center Monday, April 30, 2012. Mr. Mabe was born in Forsyth County to Odell and Ralda Smith Mabe on December 7, 1938. He retired from Pilot Freight after 30 years of service as a diesel mechanic. He also worked for Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. Mr. Mabe was a rabid NASCAR fan who was well known for his extensive collection of ball caps. Mr. Mabe was preceded in death by his father, Odell Mabe. Surviving to cherish his memory are his mother, Ralda Mabe; wife, Linda Walker Mabe; daughter, Jill M. Smitherman (Craig); grandson, Garrett Smitherman; aunt and uncle, Irene and Helon Moore, and two special friends, Paul Lucas, Jr. and Darrell Tesh. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastor David Harman officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends Tuesday May 1, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 502 N. Broad St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
