Bobby Lee Payne

Mr. Bobby Lee Payne, 89, entered eternal life with his Lord on May 20, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 30, 1928 in Surry County to the late Radford James Payne and Hazel Viola Venable Payne. Bobby worked most of his life, beginning on the farm and later retiring from R. J. Reynolds. Bobby's greatest joy was his family (and his tractors). His second greatest joy was working outdoors. Anything from mowing, planting flowers, and cutting trees, as long as he was outside, he was happy. Bobby was a loving husband, daddy, and Papa. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Hazeleen Duggins Payne; one son, Douglas Payne (Carolyn); one daughter, Susan Kapps (Tim); three grandchildren: Misti Binns (Sean), Scott Payne, and Bradford Payne (Lisa); one great grandson, Christopher Binns; one brother; Jack Payne; one sister, Dorothy Joyce (Joe); also, several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, at Faith United Methodist Church with Dr. Terry Moore and Rev. Eileen Ayuso officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, May 22, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
