Bonnie Swab

North Myrtle Beach - Bonnie Lou Reed Swab, 78 passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019. She was born on June 3, 1940 and grew up in Dudley, PA. Bonnie was the daughter of the late Warren and Madeline Reed. Bonnie was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School in Saxton, PA in 1958. She moved to Harrisburg, PA upon graduation to attend Harrisburg Hospital Polyclinic School of Nursing. After a more than 50 year career in nursing in the hospital, family practice and occupational health, she retired from Hanesbrands, Inc. in Winston-Salem, NC.  However, she never stopped nursing and caring for those she loved. She served at First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem as a choir member and as a deacon of the church.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by two brothers.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob, her son, Bob Jr. and his wife Edye, and her daughter, Susan. She is also survived by her brother, Chuck and his wife Ruth Ann; grandchildren-Kenny Swab and his wife Marisa, Robby Swab and his wife, Meg, Ellen Burge and her husband Kyle, Andrew Rothfuss, Madeline Rothfuss; and great grandson, Wyatt Lineberry; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:30pm at First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. Visitation and a reception will follow the service in the church’s fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC  27565; Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; or the Alzheimer’s Association - Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
