Brenda Gay Browder Bennett

Mrs. Brenda Gay Browder Bennett, 85, went to celebrate eternity with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2026. Known to people who knew her as Brenda B., Mom, and Meme. She was born in Stokes County, NC, to the late Garlie and Mamie Browder on January 20, 1941. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Shirley “Shorty B” Bennett; daughter, Cheryl Venable; son, Steve Bennett; two grandchildren, Bethany Godwin (Steven) and Wesley Venable (Lauren); four great-grandchildren, Blake Godwin, Stella Godwin, Adrian Venable, and Coen Venable; sister, Diane Cranfill, as well as a special family friend, Marlene Hester, who helped care for her over the last three years. Brenda was known for her natural generosity and selfless spirit. She was always willing to help those she loved. At the same time, her dry sense of humor and unique laugh left a lasting imprint on everyone around her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Terry Browder, son-in-law, Mitch Venable; and grandson, Christopher Chase Venable. The family would like to thank Trellis Hospice Care and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for the wonderful care Brenda received.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 39, Germanton, NC, 27019.
