Brenda Carter Hanes

Mrs. Brenda Lee Carter Hanes, 70, of Advance, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at her home. She was born November 12, 1946 in Davie County to ""Slim"" and Sallie Carter. Brenda married the love of her life, Kenneth Hanes on July 28, 1965. Kenneth served in Vietnam in 1967 and was wounded in the 1968 TET Offensive. He returned home to heal and they began their family. Their beloved family includes sons, Perry Hanes, Josh Hanes and daughter-in-law, Becky. Their true joys are their five grandchildren, Dale, Tristan, Jeremiah, Lucy Ann, and Michael. She is also survived by three brothers, Craig ""Stormy"", Rex and Lester Carter. Brenda enjoyed traveling, was a gifted stain glass artisan, and expert quilter. She won many ribbons with her quilts, including the Blue Ribbon & Judges Choice at the 2016 Dixie Classic Fair. Her joy and love for life will be missed by her many friends and family. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
