Brenda "Sue" Hartley Via

Mrs. Brenda “Sue” Hartley Via, 80, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024. She was born March 12, 1944, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Clinton O’Dell Hartley and Tula Jurney Hartley. Sue was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of King, prior to her illness. She had a kind soul, and lived a full life of giving to others, especially through her volunteer work at King Outreach Ministries and King Elementary. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her garden where she grew beautiful flowers, and absolutely adored her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Scottie Gray Via; and two siblings, Rudy Sells and Marilyn Shaw. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Irene Soots (David); two grandchildren, Austin Scottie James Speas (Kim) and Addison Irene Speas; a sister, Charlotte “Tootie” Logan; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00AM Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
