Brenda Marion Ray Moorefield

Mrs. Brenda Marion Ray Moorefield, age 72, widow of Bobby Bruce Moorefield, of Kernersville, NC passed away Tuesday morning at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home Winston Salem, NC. Mrs. Moorefield was born on January 17, 1941 in Stokes County to the late Marion and Nina Forrest Ray. Mrs. Moorefield was owner and operator of B&B kitchens in Kernersville. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kernersville and served as a missionary in Mexico. She also worked with the North Carolina Disaster Relief Program. Brenda was a very caring person if it was for her own family or for perfect strangers; she never discriminated between the two. She was always there for everyone. Surviving are one daughter, Ms. Cynthia Linville of Kernersville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Lori Moorefield, Jr. of Pfafftown, Charles and Johnsie Moorefield of Lexington, David and Joy Moorefield of Stokesdale; nine grandchildren, Patrice, Ashley, Christy, Ben, David Jr., Jacob, Sarah, Anna, and Brittany; eight great grandchildren, Macquela, Dallas, Maisie, Cassidy, Trevor, Scarlett, Corben, Owen, and Aubrey; five brothers and sisters, Carolyn Woodard, Newport News, Va. Bill and Pat Ray of Dublin, VA, Katherine and Ron Anderson of Hamptonville, Wayne and Joyce Ray of King, Shirley and Micky Williams of Stuart, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 52 years, Bobby Bruce Moorefield, Sr. in September 2012, and her step-mother Mary Lou Ray. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Francisco Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tracy Collins, Rev. Clark Vincent, and Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ray Family Cemetery, c/o Olivia Tucker, 5699 NC Hwy. 89 West, Westfield, NC 27053.
