Brian Gray Pope

Mr. Brian Gray Pope, 47, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 19, 2017. He was born on March 9, 1970 in Forsyth County. Brian was a life-long member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church. For 27 years, he worked at Pope Sand and Gravel, serving as Secretary and Treasurer. He was a music-lover and an avid Carolina fan. Brian enjoyed the outdoors, landscaping and maintaining his family's property. He will be remembered as a quiet and caring man. Brian was preceded in death by three of his grandparents, Ruby Pope, Kenneth Pearson and Lula Pearson. He is survived by his loving parents, Barry and Jeannie Pope; grandfather, Bobby G. Pope; aunts and uncles, Vicky Shumaker (Sammy), Marilyn Bassinger (Donnie), Randy Pope, Michael Pope (Cathy); cousins, Lucas, Lori, and Bradley Bassinger (Emily), and Austin Pope; as well as a great nephew, Alex Pope. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church with Rev. John Rights officiating. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, 3401 Konnoak Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
