Dr. Brian Patrick 'Pat' Sullivan, age 73, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away from complications with COVID on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 13, 1950, and grew up in Dallas, Texas with his parents and older brother.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Parsons Sullivan of London, England, as well as his parents John Henry Sullivan, Colonel Ret. USAF, of Corsicana, Texas and Mary Irene Gregg Sullivan of Lubbock, Texas. Surviving is his daughter Kate Sullivan, son in law, Kevin Biss, and grandson Gabriel, of Knoxville, Tennessee, his daughter Holly Sullivan Foster, son in law Andrew Foster, and granddaughter Violet of Richmond, Virginia, as well as his brother John G. Sullivan, Colonel Ret. USAF, and wife, Bernice Sullivan of Biloxi, MS as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pat was a distinguished clinical psychologist with over 45 years of service to multiple communities in Texas and North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas in 1972, a Master of Science in clinical psychology from Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio in 1975, and a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology from the United States International University in 1982. He practiced in inpatient hospital settings and outpatient clinics, providing consultation and psychological testing to both children and adults.
In addition to his clinical work, Pat was an avid runner, gardener, cat lover, and world traveler. He recently hiked Macchu Picchu with his older brother John of Biloxi, Mississippi. He was a devout member of the Episcopal Church for over 30 years, acting in multiple organizational and supportive roles.
A memorial service for Pat will be held at St. Clement's Episcopal Church. Further details will be posted on Hayworth-Miller's website when available.
