Mr. Byrd William “Bill”,91, heard the Heavenly Father’s call on April 13,2026. Well done thy good and faithful servant. Come and rest.
Bill was born during the depression era on August 27, 1934, in Surry Co. to the late William Carl White and Sallie Money White. He learned self-reliance and ingenuity and excelled at fixing and building almost anything. He remodeled a four-room house into a warm and loving home for his growing family. Bill was employed with Modern Chevrolet from the mid 1950’s until 1971 and went onto work for Roadway Express where he retired after 25years of service. He was also a proud member of the Teamsters Local 391.
Bill was a model husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family deeply and was proud of them all. Bill will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Martha H. White; grandchildren, Brian White and Chrystal White; sister, Mary Robertson; and brothers, Charlie White and Spencer White.
He is survived by his children, Marty White (Lynette),Greg White (Angie) and Missy White (Steve Gregg);grandchildren, Charity, Allan, Josh, Ashley and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Noah, Graeson, River and Sara Belle; brothers, Jim White (Ruth) and Winston White (Cathy); and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Eric Goff officiating. The family will receive friends the night prior on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
