Ms. C. Lucille Crouse, 93, of Winston-Salem, NC, entered the more immediate presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at her home.
She was born September 30, 1931, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Frank E. and Esther Snyder Crouse.
As a member of Ardmore Moravian Church, Lucille most recently served on the Board of Elders. In previous years, she was part of the opening orchestra assembly and taught children’s Sunday School classes. As a dedicated volunteer for the Children’s Candle Tea, each year she would trim over 800 small beeswax candles to be given to the children.
Lucille graduated from Reynolds High School, Commonwealth of Virginia University, Bowman Gray School of Medicine, and the University of Tennessee Medical School earning a Master of Science degree in Pathology-Clinical Chemistry.
She began her medical work at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine – NC Baptist Hospital in 1953. From there, she worked at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC, Bowman Gray School of Medicine – Nephrology Research, University of Tennessee Lab In Memphis. TN, Diagnostic Labs in Charlottee, NC, and retiring from Forsyth Memorial Hospital – Special Chemistry in 1997. Then she volunteered in the lab at Community Care Clinic from 2001 until COVID in 2020,
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lewis Crouse and Ray Crouse Sr; and sisters, Eva Jean Caudle and Esther Boze. Surviving are her brothers, Paul Crouse and Foy Crouse of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Fay Hamblen of Tavernier, FL, Polly Story, Nancy Crouse, and Peggy Crouse all of Winston-Salem, NC; 21 nieces and nephews and their families.
A Celebration of Life Service with the Rev. Joe Moore and Rev. Arkon Stewart officiating will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel followed by burial in Salem Moravian Graveyard “God’s Acre.” The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ardmore Moravian Church designated for the Organ Fund, 2013 W. Academy Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
