Calvin "Jack" Milton Mayberry

Mr. Calvin ""Jack"" Milton Mayberry, 89, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Winston-Salem on September 16, 1927 to King David Mayberry and Hattie Cooper Mayberry. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend to many. He was kind and patient, a man with integrity, a wise and caring counselor, a conscientious planner, a good listener, and helpful to people in need. A man of many talents and varied interests, he enjoyed solving problems and working with his hands. His true love was his wife, Ardena, with whom he lived almost 70 years. Jack modeled the fruit of the spirit -- kindness, patience and love. He made a lasting impression on those he met in his journey. He was a true gentleman. Jack attended college at Wake Forest College where he played center on the basketball team. He worked as a supervisor in procurement at Western Electric, retiring with 30+ years of service. He started a second career in real estate where he worked with his wife as a broker at Helms Parrish Realty. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ardena ""Duckie"" Whiteheart Mayberry. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Mayberry Poe; son, John David Mayberry and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Carla ""Carerra"" Poe Tyson and husband, Jerry; Garrett David Poe and wife, Carrie Elizabeth Sawyer Poe; Wesley and Whitley Mayberry; great grandchildren, Rosemary and Isla Poe; a special little one he adored; a sister, Nancy Ellen Hanmer; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Long, Iris Wilson Mayberry, and Nancy Lou Mayberry. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Center Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Corts officiating (8750 Lasater Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012). Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back to the Bible (https://www.backtothebible.org/) or BBN (http://www.bbnradio.org ).
