Cameron Gilbert Sloan, Sr.

Mr. Cameron Gilbert Sloan, Sr., 87, passed away January 24, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 29, 1929 in Iredell County to the late Ernest Neal Sloan and Ena Pearl Goodin Sloan. Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Sykes Sloan; A brother, Maynard Sloan; two sisters, Wadie Stewart and Joan Sharpe. He is survived by his two children, Cameron G. Sloan, Jr. and wife Brenda and Suzanne Smith and husband Jerry; four grandchildren, Stewart Sloan and wife Dana, Chris Wall and wife Erin, Courtney Holshouser and husband John, Ashley Hardin and husband Trey; eleven great-grandchildren, Cameron Sloan, Laura Sloan, Colt Holshouser, Luke Holshouser, Coen Holshouser, Witt Hardin, Walker Hardin, Sloan Hardin, Harper Hardin, Carter Wall and Hayes Wall; two sisters, Betty Sloan and Nancy LeVan-Little and husband Les. Two brothers, E.N. Sloan and Jim Sloan and wife Karen. Mr. Sloan was a member of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church and a former member of Central Terrace United Methodist Church. He retired from McLean Trucking Company with 30 years of service and subsequently retired from Crisis Control Ministry. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Chapel with Pastor Bill James officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
