Mr. Carl Eugene Joyner, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully at The Oaks at Forsyth on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Mr. Joyner was born on October 17, 1930 in Forsyth County, NC to Gurney Eugene and Zola Baity Joyner. He was of the Moravian faith and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the United States Army. Carl retired from Piedmont Airlines and US Air with many years of loyal service. He enjoyed playing the bass fiddle with the Stokes County Ramblers where they played regularly at the Pollirosa in Tobaccoville. He later played with The Amazing Bluegrass Sounds. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy Ham Joyner. He is survived by two sisters, Martha Davis and Doris Fulbright, both of Winston-Salem; two nephews, Terry Fulbright of Charlotte and Rick Fulbright and wife Helen of Winston-Salem; one niece, Karen Miller and husband Jeff of Winston-Salem; two great nephews Jeremy Miller and wife Laura of Winston-Salem and Tom Cranwell of Wisconsin; one great niece, Brooke Miller of Winston-Salem; and one great-great niece, Olivia Miller of Winston-Salem. A memorial service for Mr. Joyner will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek with Dr. Jon E. Smith officiating. Military Rights will follow the service with the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.
