Carl Vinston Simmons

Mr. Carl Vinston Simmons, 63, of Winston-Salem, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born April 10, 1950 in Forsyth County to Ralph and Mattie Hyatt Simmons. Mr. Simmons graduated from East Forsyth High School and then entered into The Salvation Army Training School. He was a minister with The Salvation Army for several years and was a loyal member of Leonard Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a niece, Debbie Burnette. Mr. Simmons was a very devoted husband of 7 years who is survived by his wife, Tammy Simmons; two sisters, Patricia Burnette (Jerry) and Judy Matlock (Thomas); nieces and nephews, Christopher Matlock and Lisa and Jerry Burnette, Jr.; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Landreth and his stepchildren, Kim Shupe and Brittany Thurman. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Leonard Road Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor Tommy Hepler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Tammy Simmons, 333 Friendly Acres Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. (Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel)
