Carlotta Medford

Mrs. Carlotta Rose Seagraves Medford, 69, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully holding her daughter's hand on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

Carlotta was born January 1, 1949 in Forsyth County to James Carl Seagraves and Ina Rose Seagraves. She was a graduate of Catawba College and retired after 32 years of service from Davidson County Schools. She was a longtime member of Hopewell Moravian Church, where she was President of her Sunday School class. In her free time, Carlotta enjoyed quilting and loved to go shopping. She was a wonderful friend to many. Above all, she loved to spend time with her daughter, Kara, and granddaughter, Caroline, and will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Carlotta was preceded in death by her father, James Carl Seagraves; aunts, Elsie Cude, Helen Comer, Mildred Boyter, and Doris Guy; and uncles, Ralph Seagraves, Calvin Seagraves, Paul Seagraves, Dan Seagraves, Lester Jones, and George Jones.

Carlotta is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jessie Medford; mother, Ina Rose Seagraves; daughter, Kara Hackney and husband Martin; granddaughter, Caroline Hackney; special cousins, Lynn Grubbs, Susan Hutchins, Lisa Canter, Colbert Seagraves and many other cousins; aunts, Lucy Robertson and Elma Hege; uncles, Max Jones and Sam Jones; special friends, Janis Troutman, Lillian Snapp, Rick Perryman, Rinda Shaw, Linda Hatfield, Celia Mabe, Geraldine Byerly and Calvin Hutchins; and dog and granddog, Molly and Charlotte.

A celebration of Carlotta's life will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 4 PM at Hopewell Moravian Church with Reverend Walter Bishop and Reverend David Merritt officiating. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church graveyard.
