Carmen Curet Vasquez

Carmen Lourdes Curet Vazques, born on August 26, 1945, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, passed away leaving behind a legacy of strength, sacrifice, and boundless love.

In 1967, Carmen made the courageous decision to leave her homeland in search of a better life. Arriving in New York City with hope in her heart, she worked tirelessly to build a future for her family. Her journey took her to Canada in 1974, but her heart called her back to New York, where she established a successful career as a seamstress—a trade that reflected her careful hands and unwavering dedication.

One by one, Carmen reunited her children—Johnny, Robert, and Zorida—ensuring that they would grow up in a land of opportunity. She was not only a devoted mother, but also a proud grandmother to Stephanie, Little Johnny, Christina, Monica, and Little Robert, and a delighted great-grandmother to Rylin.

Carmen is survived by her loving sisters, Slyvia and Megalina. A woman devoted to God, Carmen lived a life grounded in faith, service, and compassion.

She found peace in her garden and joy in caring for others. Always smiling, always giving, Carmen had a heart that placed others before herself. Her kindness touched everyone who knew her. Whether it was with a warm meal, gentle advice, or simply her presence, she made sure her loved ones knew they mattered.

Carmen's strength, resilience, and love will live on in every life she touched. She will be missed deeply, but remembered always.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Petty officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. A visitation will be held from 10:00- 10:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
