Carol Jeanne Sterling, age 81, of Bermuda Run, NC, passed away on January 3, 2024. She was born on January 17, 1942, in Mansfield, Ohio, to her loving parents. Throughout her life, Carol was known for her kind and compassionate nature. She volunteered with numerous local organizations, including St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Habitat for Humanity, Forsyth Humane Society, Davie County Humane Society, Crisis Control Ministry, and the YMCA Youth reading program. Her dedication to community service touched the lives of many. She attended high school in Mansfield, Ohio, and studied marketing and advertising at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In her career, Carol owned and operated a restaurant in Mansfield, Ohio. However, the majority of her professional life was spent in the field of Marketing/Advertising. She worked for Chapel and Associates in Mansfield, Ohio, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, and Mullen Advertising in Winston-Salem, NC. Outside of work, Carol enjoyed golfing, gardening, and cherishing the company of her beloved pets. Her green thumb and love for nature were evident in her beautiful gardens. Carol is survived by her sister, Diana Timmer; her nephew, Rick Timmer (Chris); her niece, Debbie Timmer; her nephew, Kenneth Marietta (Melanie); several great nephews and great nieces and her dearest friend, Lis Marcotullio of Advance, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sally; and brother, Joseph. In memory of Carol’s generous spirit, contributions can be made to St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, NC, or Crisis Control Ministry in Winston-Salem, NC. Carol Sterling will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of selflessness and dedication to others will forever be remembered. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2024 at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church. (Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel is serving the Sterling family)
