Carolyn Fishel Bodford

Carolyn Fishel Bodford, 82, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Winston-Salem, NC.

She was born on July 4, 1943, in Winston-Salem, NC, to the late Clayton Sanford Fishel and Agnes Irene Grubbs Fishel. She retired from Forsyth Medical Center (FMC) in Winston-Salem, NC, with thirty-five years of service. After retiring from FMC, she worked at Davie Dermatology in Advance, NC, for several years.

In retirement, Carolyn enjoyed traveling. She visited her daughter and grandchildren in Woodstock, Georgia, and later in San Diego, California. She also vacationed in Hawaii multiple times and in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Other notable trips included a cruise to Alaska and traveling by train across Canada. She also took pleasure in gardening and caring for her yard. Carolyn was a faithful member of Linville Forest Church of Christ for many years.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela B. Howell; and sisters, Edith F. Collins and Marie Malcom. She is survived by her son-in-law, James Howell; grandchildren, Jimmy Howell (Holley), Ryan Howell, Alex Howell, and Ashlynn Howell; great-granddaughter, Paisley Howell; nephews, Douglas Collins (Jennifer), William Collins (Carol), and Bobby Collins (Lisa); and brother-in-law, Larry Collins.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC. A burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, 2730 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the funeral home.
